JANUARY READING WRAP-UP

I'm trying to start off 2025 right by being diligent with my reading wrap-ups this year (as per my reading goals checklist - read more here) so here we are, starting the year off strong with a late, yet present, wrap-up for January. Thankfully, my reading journal is making monthly stats easy to keep track of, so hopefully I'll have a little more luck with remembering to get these out. January was a fun start to the year, not too many books to count, but a lot of fun content read.

READING STATS

I completed 3 books in November:

  • Storm & Fury Jennifer Armentrout

  • The Third Wife Lisa Jewell

  • Onyx Storm Rebecca Yarros

I read roughly 1,376 pages.

I read 2 audiobooks & 1 e-book.

I spent approximately 19 hours & 39 minutes listening to audiobooks.

My average rating is 3.67 stars - my favorite being Onyx Storm.

*I'm also 60-ish percent through House of Flame & Shadow, but I'm super smart and started this series via Graphic Audio and now have to finish it the same way because the voice actors are freaking amazing. Part two of HOFAS comes out in March, so I'll finish the book then and count it on March's stats.

QUICK-GLANCE REVIEWS

BOOK BREAKDOWN

  • Storm & Fury Jennifer Armentrout

Recommended by my sister, I started this series on Graphic Audio (thanks Hoopla). I went in blind, not sure what to expect other than that it's a more contemporary fantasy series. This is my first book by Armentrout - I was a little intimidated because I know some of her books intertwine, but I was pleasantly surprised.

  • The Third Wife Lisa Jewell

I have a soft spot for British authors who write psychological thrillers, Lisa Jewell probably being my favorite. I love the way she writes and I'm always impressed with the pacing of her books. This book was no exception, I listened to it in 3-ish days and I was entertained from beginning to end. It wasn't necessarily my favorite of her works that I've read, but still extremely solid nonetheless.

  • Onyx Storm Rebecca Yarros

I'm fully on the bandwagon that is Fourth Wing and all of its glory, and my excitement for Onyx Storm was no different. I pre-ordered, got the deluxe and exclusive editions, all the things. I love this series still, and this book was my favorite of the month - but I do want to make one thing clear: not by a whole lot. This was my least favorite out of the series so far, but still good. I'd say this one won fave of the month by a hair, with Storm & Fury coming in close.

If you're curious about how I rate my reads, check out this blog post for a refresher on my rating and spice scales. As always, please remember that reading is subjective and these are just my opinions. Please read what you love!
